English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
The English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program at Concordia University helps working instructors learn how to develop teaching strategies that promote learning for students who are not native English speakers. This program addresses the unique needs of each learner and focuses on how to create vibrant learning communities.
And, while there is debate over the differences between English for speakers of other languages and English as a second language students, this program is fit for teachers of any students needing to learn fluent English as the language of commerce and education. Courses in this program include:
- Strategies and Materials for Teaching English Learners
- Linguistics
- Language and Culture in the Classroom
- Language Acquisition
- Assessing English Learners
Completion of this course takes just one year, and all coursework can be completed online from the comfort of your own home. At Concordia University, we endeavor to provide a flexible, convenient education without compromising the quality and intensity of our coursework.
